I use Marbling as a basis for both Paintings & Calligraphy Usually I have a subject first and try to create a Marbling base to develop from.
The random nature of Marbling means a constant battle for control, & much wastage. On the Paintings below I created an original painting of “Anchor Bay” in 1989 & used a print to develop with a Marbling treatment. The starting point for “Bradwell” was the derelict stone building and I imported other elements to create a semi fictional autumn scene.
